Nightdreaming

I drive the wrong way
Repeatedly

I drive in circles
Unknowingly

I drive down lonely, dark concession roads
Wondering

How many wrong turns will it take?
How many U-turns?

Who is driving my car?

My first thought was to try the navigation system. We all need a navigation system to steer are lives by.

Have a happy and safe holiday.

But it's not just the car we're not in control of. How many mistakes do we repeat until we get it right ? This is a nugget. BB

If you changed the title of this poem, you could completely change its meaning. I love poems that work like that!

Thanks for the comments. There is a dual meaning to the poem, which I was only half-aware of when I wrote it. The poem comes from a recent experience, but the incident started to mean more to me as I wrote the poem.

I know who's driving my car, but that doesn't mean I'm always happy with the route! Small powerful poem, like a shot of espresso. Thanks for sharing!

All i can say, is that it's a very good question...

I tried to write to Anais Nin, but had no luck, being extremely technologically challenged. I think I left some kind of link -- either deliberately or accidentally. So, Anais. I liked your sad, sad, poem. What a great alienation poem. The fact of huge populations amidst tremendous loneliness is such a strange modern day phenomenon.

Enjoyed these insights.I like the questioning style in your poem. It's also strong the way you capitalize and set off as one words "Repeatedly"
"Unknowingly"
and "Wondering"

(I saw your goal of tuning into nature more. Nature is a superbe inspiration!)
