The Beginning

I've wanted my own personal blog for a while. I've even made a couple of them. One was called "Ketchup, Vinegar and Salt." I meant it to be full of wit and humour. Unfortunately, I couldn't come up with much wit and humour, so I deleted that whole blog. My other blog was pretentious and dull (at least I thought so), so it likewise had a shortlived existence, and I told no one about it.

The idea for this blog comes from a book called "The Tao of Inner Peace" by Diane Dreher. I've always liked this book, and particularly liked its reference to the bamboo. Here's the full quote from the TAO:

At birth all people are soft and yielding.
At death they are hard and stiff,
All green plants are tender and yielding.
At death they are brittle and dry.
When hard and rigid,
We consort with death.
When soft and flexible,
We affirm life."
(TAO 76)

This verse tells about a different way of living that appeals to me very much.

Well, this is the beginning... I'm excited about this blog and hope that others enjoy it!
