Poetry Thursday February 22, 2007: The Body Knows

The Body Knows:

Ice-cube hands
Body on overdrive
Night-time insomnia
Too much tea

Hand-warming mudras
Quiet reflection
Conscious awareness
Lips no longer dry

Hey - I was wondering when you were going to post another poem! I admire your ability to convey feelings/thoughts succinctly like that. I like short poems, you can absorb them in one bite, one breath; and then read them again. I have a bad tendancy of rambling on. For some reason the bit about ice cubes and dry lips has reminded me that I'm thirsty.

I love the first and last lines. There is a connection there.

Everyline really spoke to me. This may have been short but very powerful. It moved me a lot. A pleasure to read.

The picture actually helped a lot! I love the short lines, which make for snapshot images. Good poem.
